What is a hyaluronic acid injection?

A hyaluronic acid injection is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure used to plump the skin.

Hyaluronic acid is one of the main natural components of the extra cellular matrix of the dermis. It helps keep the skin hydrated and plump.

When injected into the skin, hyaluronic acid can help reduce early wrinkles, add volume to certain areas (cheekbone or lip volumetric techniques for example), and improve the overall appearance of the skin. .

Find toned, smooth and hydrated skin.

WHY USE HYALURONIC ACID IN THE TREATMENT OF WRINKLES?

Wrinkles are localized depressions linked to a progressive degradation of the different dermal layers during the aging process. The injection of hyaluronic acid makes it possible to compensate for the loss of substance, and to reduce or even make the wrinkle disappear through a filling effect.

What areas are treated with hyaluronic acid injection?

The areas most commonly treated with hyaluronic acid injections are the cheeks, around the eyes, the nasolabial silo (wrinkles between the nose and mouth) and around the mouth (perioral wrinkles and bitterness fold).

The dosage of filler is adjusted according to the areas of the face, to treat superficial or deeper wrinkles. Certain acids with little or no cross-linking can also be used to reduce scar marks and other imperfections.

The face is an area particularly suitable for treatment with hyaluronic acid, which plumps and smoothes the skin in a natural way.

However, other very specific acids can be used on the body to tighten the skin, and this is possible with the Profhilo treatment.

What results can we expect from a hyaluronic acid injection?

How long do the results of a hyaluronic acid injection last?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural product, which is resorbed over time in the body. Its effects are therefore not permanent.

The duration of hyaluronic acid filler depends on a number of factors, including the type of filler used (brand, density, cross-linking, etc.), the injection technique (quantity injected, depth, etc.) and the treated area.

In general, most hyaluronic acid fillers last 6 to 12 months.

Touch-ups may be necessary to maintain optimal results over time. Depending on the patients and the area, it is recommended to repeat the treatment 1 to 2 times a year.

At Renécia, we guarantee our patients the best care and products. This is why all hyaluronic acid injections performed in our dermato-aesthetic clinic use the best products on the market, recognized for ensuring long-lasting results.

Indications and contraindications to hyaluronic acid injections

Hyaluronic acid injection is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that is generally well tolerated by most patients.

However, hyaluronic acid injections should be avoided in people with autoimmune diseases. Indeed, hyaluronic acid can aggravate inflammation and cause complications.

Talk to a qualified healthcare professional before considering hyaluronic acid treatment.

Hyaluronic acid injection technique

There are three different hyaluronic acid injection techniques.

The cannula injection technique

For this technique, a single puncture is performed. The hyaluronic acid injection is done using a cannula (flexible tube) of small diameter, inserted under the skin, and which allows the area to be coated (covered) with a thin layer of product.

This technique is used in young patients to improve skin hydration and correct early wrinkles.

The bolus injection technique

The second technique consists of injecting a more or lesser quantity of products in small touches into bone contact. For this technique, several needle pricks are performed, aiming to inject a small ball of product into the skin.

This technique is used when we want to treat deeper wrinkles or reshape the skin.

The retrotracing injection technique

As with the bolus injection, it is a needle injection. Several superficial injections are made on the area to be treated, but here, the injection is done on the way out. This is the technique that is used for lip injections or for the increase of jawline.

Depending on the needs of the patient and the area to be treated, the technique used will be different, to ensure a tailor-made treatment.

Procedure for the hyaluronic acid injection session

The process of the hyaluronic acid injection session begins with a meeting between you and your doctor to identify the areas to be worked on and present the treatment to you.

Once your goals are set, a 24-hour reflection period must be respected before starting your treatment.

Once this period has passed, we welcome you back to the clinic for your session.

This begins with disinfection of the area, before continuing with the injection of the product, using the technique most appropriate to your needs.

It takes about half an hour for a hyaluronic acid injection session.

faq

The needles used for the injection are very small and the treatment is relatively painless; some products even contain xylocaine (an anesthetic). This is not dangerous, it has been used for more than 20 years in medicine, in the treatment of aging but also in other medical specialties.

Small bruises (blue hematoma) may appear just after the injection due to the needle. The risk of infection linked to skin breakage is minimal.

The effects of hyaluronic acid injections generally last six months to a year, and the risk of side effects is low. Therefore, hyaluronic acid injections are an effective way to reduce the signs of aging and improve skin health.

There is no ideal age group for starting hyaluronic acid injections, however some people start preventive injections around the age of 25/30.
