Botulinum toxin injection is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment used to reduce wrinkles and restore a more youthful appearance to the face. Botulinum toxin is an injectable filler that is resorbable by the body.
Expression lines are linked to excess activation of certain muscles which, through their repetitive action, cause the formation of depressions in your skin.
When injected into the skin, botulinum toxin (or Botox) acts by temporarily paralyzing the muscles, which blocks this hyperactivity which causes expression lines.
Botulinum toxin promotes the work of other muscles (antagonists to the previous ones); and thus generates a real tensor effect (lifting and/or tightening) on the skin and the reduction or even disappearance of wrinkles in the treated areas.
Botulinum toxin injection is mainly used to treat the upper part of the face (glabellar lines, crow's feet, forehead wrinkles).
The results of a botulinum toxin injection are not immediate. Botox only sets after 10 to 15 days. There is therefore no reason to worry if you do not see results the first few days following your session.
The effects of botulinum toxin injections usually last three to four months, before muscle function returns to normal.
Botulinum toxin injections are not recommended for people with a history of neurological disease, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or people with bleeding disorders.
Botulinum toxin injections are given in a series of tiny pricks to coat the product in an even layer over the area to be treated.
A first meeting with the doctor is held in the clinic, to determine your objectives and define the areas to be treated.
You will be welcomed back into our clinic after a 24-hour reflection period has passed.
The botulinum toxin injection session begins with disinfection of the area to be treated.
The treatment consists of performing a few injection points on the face for the treatment of expression lines or in the armpits for the treatment of hyperhidrosis.
The use of doses adapted to each case, depending in particular on muscle power, makes it possible to avoid the “frozen” appearance often feared by patients.
No anesthesia is necessary.
The treatment is generally done in a single session.

faq
Botulinum toxin injections are an effective way to fight the signs of aging. It is an effective method for reducing wrinkles and regaining young, smooth skin without surgery.
The needle is very fine, and botulinum toxin injections are usually not very painful.
Among the most common side effects are: headaches, as well as small bruises or hematomas, which can occur when a blood vessel is affected during the injection. These bruises usually disappear within a few days.
In some cases, botulinum toxin injections can also cause ptosis (drooping) of the upper eyelid. This can happen when the product is injected a little too low on the forehead. However, these cases are rare. At Renécia, we systematically carry out a check after the session, and if necessary, we perform a new corrective injection after 10 to 15 days.
Botulinum toxin injections should be performed by trained healthcare professionals. In some cases, they may be performed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants, under the supervision of a licensed physician.
The most common injection sites for botulinum toxin are the forehead, the crow's feet area around the eyes, and between the eyebrows.
When injected into muscles, botulinum toxin blocks the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. This prevents the muscles from contracting, and results in temporary paralysis of the muscles. The effects of the toxin usually last 3 to 4 months.
