What is CO2 laser?

Fractional CO₂ laser is an aesthetic medicine technique used to treat skin aging, texture imperfections (enlarged pores, irregularities), wrinkles, scars (especially acne scars) and pigment spots. This laser acts both on the surface, eliminating damaged cells, and deeper, reactivating collagen production.

A principle of action based on skin regeneration

Unlike a continuous laser which treats the entire surface of the skin, the laser split acts by creating a multitude of micro heat sink (or micro-ablation zones) spaced from areas of healthy skin. This diffusion method allows:

How does a CO2 laser session take place?

Treatment with CO₂ eCO2 Plus® fractional laser At the Renécia Clinic, treatment relies on cutting-edge technology that combines performance, personalization, and comfort. Here are the key steps of a session:

Before the session

A personalized medical consultation is essential. It allows:

  • To analyze your skin, your phototype and your goals.
  • To eliminate contraindications (pregnancy, active herpes, photosensitizing treatments, etc.).
  • To determine the appropriate protocol: intensity, depth, number of sessions, areas to be treated.

Skin preparation:

  • An anesthetic cream is applied 30 to 45 minutes before the session, for optimal comfort.
  • The skin is carefully cleaned and disinfected just before treatment.

During the session

The doctor uses the eCO2 Plus® laser, by finely adjusting the parameters according to your needs (wrinkles, scars, sagging skin, pigment spots, etc.).

After the session

  • Immediately after: A feeling of warmth (similar to sunburn) is common. A soothing and healing cream is applied. The skin appears red and sometimes slightly swollen.
  • In the following days: fine crusts or brown microdots may appear, a sign of the skin regeneration process. These effects disappear in 5 to 7 days depending on the intensity of the treatment.
  • Gradually, the skin renews itself to reveal a smoother, more radiant texture and a visibly rejuvenated complexion.

Post-treatment recommendations:

  • Moisturize the skin daily with suitable care.
  • Avoid all sun exposure for 4 to 6 weeks, with strict application of a total SPF50+ screen.
  • Do not apply makeup to the treated area and avoid excessive heat (steam room, intense sport) for a few days.

  • History of abnormal scarring (hypertrophic scars or keloids).
  • Very dark skin not compatible with certain settings.
  • Uncontrolled autoimmune diseases or clotting disorders.
  • Treatment with isotretinoin within the last 6 months.
