Pigmentation spots laser PICO Paris

Aesthetic Dermatology Clinic – Paris, 16th arrondissement

The picosecond laser can treat pigment spots, melasma, certain scars, and uneven skin tone and texture, while also improving overall skin quality. At Clinique Renécia, we use the Lutronic PicoPlus®, a second-generation picosecond laser renowned for its power, precision, and versatility.

Thanks to its ultra-short 450-picosecond pulses, it targets pigments with exceptional precision and breaks them down into extremely fine particles, which are more easily eliminated by the body. This primarily photomechanical action effectively treats numerous pigmentation issues while minimizing heat buildup in surrounding tissues. As a result, the skin appears clearer, more even-toned, and visibly revitalized.

What is a pico laser treatment for pigment spots?

The picosecond laser is a cosmetic medicine technology used to treat skin pigmentation, certain pigmented lesions, melasma, acne scars, post-acne erythema, and some skin rejuvenation indications. It works using extremely short pulses, much shorter than those of traditional nanosecond lasers.

This short pulse duration allows for highly targeted energy delivery, fragmenting pigments without excessive heat diffusion into the tissues. The treatment is therefore effective, precise, and well-tolerated.

A principle of action based on the ultra-precise fragmentation of pigments

Unlike older pigment lasers, the picosecond laser works primarily through a photomechanical effect. Its ultra-short energy breaks down pigments into finer particles, which the body gradually eliminates.

This method of action allows us to:

  • Fragment the pigments more finely and efficiently
  • Limit thermal damage to surrounding fabrics
  • Improve treatment tolerance
  • Treating a wide range of pigmentary and aesthetic indications
  • To promote a gradual and harmonious elimination of pigments by the body

Latest generation technology at the Renécia Clinic

At Clinique Renécia, we use the Lutronic PicoPlus®, a global leader in picosecond laser technology. It is a second-generation laser designed to offer greater power, stability, safety, and precision.

With a peak power of 1,8 GW, the PicoPlus® is among the most powerful picosecond lasers of its generation. It allows the use of pico- and nanosecond energies, with performance across four wavelengths: 1064, 532, 595, and 660 nm. This remarkable versatility makes it possible to adapt treatments to different pigment colors, the nature of the lesions, and the characteristics of each individual's skin.

Thanks to its advanced design, the PicoPlus® allows for safe, precise and personalized treatments, both for complex pigmentary indications and for skin rejuvenation.

The PicoPlus® combines power, precision and safety, making it one of the most effective lasers on the market for treating pigments, certain scars and visibly improving skin quality.

Who is this treatment intended for?

Pico laser treatment is for women and men wishing to correct a pigmentary indication, improve certain skin defects or revive the radiance of their skin without resorting to a more invasive technique.

It is particularly suitable for:

  • Melasma
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Certain pigmented lesions
  • Some moles, according to medical indication
  • Seborrheic keratoses
  • Acne or fibrosed scars
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Post-acne erythema
  • Certain forms of inflammatory acne, in selected indications

Thanks to the versatility of PicoPlus®, the treatment can be adapted with great precision according to the color of the pigment, the depth of the lesion, the phototype and the desired objective.

This laser can be used on various skin types, subject to a prior medical evaluation. The precise settings allow, in particular, for safer treatment of darker skin tones.

What happens during a pico laser session?

PicoPlus® pico laser treatment at Clinique Renécia is based on cutting-edge technology that combines performance, personalization, and safety. Here are the key steps of a session:

Before the session

A personalized medical consultation is essential. It allows:

  • To analyze your skin, your phototype and your goals
  • To eliminate contraindications
  • To determine the appropriate protocol: wavelength, fluence, spot size, pulse duration, number of sessions and areas to be treated

Skin preparation:

  • The skin is thoroughly cleansed before the treatment
  • An anesthetic cream may be recommended depending on the indication and the sensitivity of the area.

During the session

The doctor uses the PicoPlus® by finely adjusting the parameters according to the indication: melasma, pigment spot, acne scar, post-acne redness or skin rejuvenation.

The session typically lasts between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the area treated and the indication. The treatment is generally well tolerated.

After the session

  • Immediately afterwards, moderate redness, a feeling of warmth or slight swelling may appear
  • In the days that follow, some pigmented lesions may darken temporarily before gradually lightening.
  • The skin gradually appears more even, brighter and of better quality.

Post-treatment recommendations:

  • Hydrate the skin with appropriate skincare products
  • Avoid all sun exposure and rigorously apply SPF50+ sunscreen.
  • Avoid irritating treatments, friction, and excessive heat for a few days.
  • Follow the specific recommendations given by the doctor according to the condition being treated.

PicoPlus® laser technology

The Lutronic PicoPlus® is a second-generation picosecond laser designed to treat skin pigments with extreme precision. It works primarily through a photomechanical effect, fragmenting pigments without causing excessive heating of surrounding tissues.

An ultra-short beam for targeted action and faster recovery

Unlike traditional nanosecond lasers, the pico laser delivers its energy in 450 picoseconds. This extremely short pulse duration allows:

  • Finer and more efficient fragmentation of pigments
  • A limitation of thermal effects
  • Improved skin tolerance
  • More effective action on certain resistant pigmented lesions

Exclusive technologies for greater performance and comfort

  • Peak power of 1,8 GW: particularly useful for resistant pigmentary indications
  • Four wavelengths: ensure great processing versatility
  • Fluence settings in increments of 0,01 J/cm²: allow for particularly precise adjustments, even on high phototypes
  • Two pulse durations: picosecond and nanosecond, depending on the clinical indication
  • Auto-calibration: ensures optimal parameter consistency
  • Fractionated handpieces: open up additional possibilities for texturing and rejuvenation work

A customizable treatment for all skin types

Thanks to this precision and the diversity of possible protocols, the treatment is highly customizable:

  • Depending on the area treated
  • Depending on the indication: melasma, spots, scars, rejuvenation
  • Depending on the phototype, including olive to dark skin tones, subject to prior medical evaluation
